What Postory processes

When capture is enabled on X, Postory processes public post information rendered in an active X tab and visible in the browser viewport. This can include the post ID and URL, text, author name and handle, public timestamp, media URLs, post relationships, the X surface where it appeared, and first and last viewed times.

When you open a ChatGPT conversation with capture enabled, Postory archives a snapshot of that conversation — its messages, roles, timestamps and title — so you can search and re-find it later.

A viewport record means content was displayed while scrolling or reading. It does not mean you read, agreed with or endorsed it.

Where your archive lives

Postory stores captured history — X posts and ChatGPT conversation snapshots — in IndexedDB inside your browser. Archived content does not leave the device unless you explicitly export it. Cloud synchronization of archived content is not included in this release.

Postory does not sell browsing history, use post or conversation content for advertising or credit decisions, or transmit post or conversation text for analytics.

Account and subscription checks

If you sign in to your Postory account, the extension sends your Postory account access token to api.postory.cc to read your subscription state (active plan, status, renewal date). This request carries no archived content and no cookies; it is used only to enable or pause capture for your account. Payments are handled by Stripe through the postory.cc website, never inside the extension.

Browser access

• Storage keeps preferences and local trial or entitlement state.
• Unlimited storage allows a user-controlled archive to grow beyond a browser's default extension quota.
• Access to x.com and twitter.com detects public posts in the viewport and inserts the Postory history entry. Direct-message routes are excluded.
• Access to chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com archives the ChatGPT conversations you open. Postory does not send messages, read credentials, or modify conversations.
• Access to api.postory.cc performs the account and subscription checks described above.

Postory requests no permission to read browsing activity on unrelated sites.

Your controls

You can delete individual records, clear the local archive and export JSON, CSV or Markdown at any time. These controls remain available after a trial or subscription expires.

Local records remain until you delete them, clear extension data, uninstall the extension, or browser behavior removes them. Exported files are controlled by you and your operating system.

Trial and retention

The three-day trial begins after the first successful capture. When it expires, new capture pauses. Existing history remains viewable, deletable and exportable. Reinstalling the extension may remove local browser storage and does not guarantee recovery.
